You don’t need to be a certified chef to create a course that teaches people how to cook. If you can cook better than most people and create your course material in a way that truly teach people how to cook, then there’s nothing holding your back.
The thoughts of building something online has been in my brain for so long.
But I keep failing.
The Failures
I started with vlogging in Nov 2019.
Vlogging is fun but editing video clips is definitely NOT. – SL
That was when I was still fresh graduate and about to have my first full-time job. But after joining the workforce, I couldn’t take it - I feel so exhausted and demotivated.
The only thing I want to do after work is to GET SOME REST.
As expected, after uploading SL’s Vlog for the very first time, I stopped doing any of the youtube thingy.
One year after, in 2020, I had an idea of starting a personal blog!
But slowly, I lose my momentum again because I was too ambitious about the projects. In the end, this project also get abandoned.
I was really dissapointed at myself for keep giving up on something I started.
Mind Change
There is no a single reason that has changed my mind to come back and build my own brand.
It was a couple of incidents that inspired me.
Getting more confidence
Back in November 2020, I decided to join my current company.
Best decision ever - I met the best manager ever! He is smart, inspiring, and encouraging!
Slowly, I feel empowered and confident at myself - How can you not when you always receiving sincere and truthful compliments from your boss? (Still feeling grateful till now)
So I tell myself that MAYBE I can really help someone out there with my skills.
I cant remember where I read this, but there’s a nice saying that:

So I convinced myself-
With my experience and skills in Data Analytics, I believe I can create good resources and tools to help many people or businesses out there that wish to craft their own success story! 😇
At the same time, I’d take this as a learning opportunity to further improve my skills.
COVID-19
In the year of 2020, COVID-19 Outbreak in Malaysia has caused a lot of people losing their jobs.
Even for those who are not, they are feeling insecure about their job, not mentioning getting salary cut and forced unpaid leave by employers.
This happened to my siblings.
This incident alarms me, because we’ll never know if one day our employer decides to let us go, we might ended up losing all the income.
AVOID PUTTING ALL EGGS IN A BASKET.
I know I need to escape from my comfort zone, and starts building my own brand to be able to be financially independent in the future.
Do something today that your future self will thank you for.
One Word to Describe My Current State
Fulfilling!
Building a brand is like building my own house on the internet; See-ing it grow bit by bit everyday is probably the most satisfying thing in the world!
I truly enjoy what I’m doing everyday. These are the things that motivates me to wake up every single day!
If you are following me, you probably noticed that I started making some videos about Data Studio tutorials on my Youtube Channel called “Danalyser”.
Then, recently I started selling digital spreadsheets templates on Etsy.
One small wish I have - I hope one day I am able to build my own lovely online community <3 It doesn’t need to be big, but its full of people I treasure :)
Lesson Learnt
Looking back, I realised, all the failures have reasons behind it - it’s the journey of looking for something you really passionate about, a process of getting to know who you are as a person and what you can contribute to others in the world.
